Our Staff
Maplewood Preschool is licensed by the State of Nebraska, assuring parents that we meet or exceed all state requirements for preschools. Our 7 staff members have over 100 years of experience combined. Each year our teachers participate in continuous education. They are also required to be certified in CPR, First Aid, and Safe Gatherings training. Our director has been with the school since 2008.
My name is Ms. Jan and I am the current director of Maplewood Preschool. I have been at the Preschool since 2008. Along with directing, I also teach one of the Pre-K classes. I love helping my students get ready for Kindergarten. My favorite part of the day is story time! March happens to be my favorite month because we celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday! I love Yertle the Turtle. We also make green eggs and ham. It cracks me up when the kids are hesitant to try them, then tell me I need to give the recipe to their mom!
I am Ms. Rose and I have been at Maplewood Preschool since 2003. I work primarily with 3 year olds and one of the things I love to do is to take them on nature walks. My favorite time of the year for this is fall because we can find so many things on the ground. We collect some of these treasures such as acorns, fox tails, and all different colors of leaves, then bring them back into the classroom and make a wreath out of them. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my 7 grandchildren.
My name is Ms. Kristin and I have been at Maplewood Preschool since 2015. I teach one of the Pre-K classes. One of my favorite times of day is welcoming the children in the morning. They enjoy the routine of the morning, but they also love to sing songs or think of words that start with the letter of the week. It is so fun to watch them light up when they figure out new concepts or create something new on their own.
My name is Ms. Amy. I have been teaching Pre-K at Maplewood Preschool since 2018. I have worked with children of all ages for 15 years. Three of my six children attended Maplewood Preschool. My favorite part of the day is working with the children to create art projects. I love how their personality comes out in their art. I especially like the Five Senses of Christmas book we make in December. I also enjoy spending time with my family, sewing, and reading.
I am Ms. Billie and I joined Maplewood Preschool in 2012. I have been fortunate and blessed to be teaching alongside an amazing teacher that never fails to put a smile on my face. It is our goal to make each day a great day for every child. I love working with the children and there is nothing more rewarding than to see little faces light up with the simple joy of learning. Some of my favorite times are when we do experiments like the melting snowman, elephant toothpaste, and erupting volcanoes. Seeing their excitement is priceless!
My name is Ms. Amber and I have been with Maplewood Preschool since 2019. I work with the Pre-K students. My favorite activity to do with them is our arts and crafts projects. I love to see how unique each project turns out! I also enjoy our Music and Movement - the kids always have a great time singing and dancing! When I’m not at preschool, I enjoy reading and taking my dog for walks.
Hi. I’m Ms. Alicia and I joined Maplewood Preschool in 2020. I assist in the 2-day Preschool class. My favorite part of preschool is the Good Morning song and Center Time. I enjoy seeing the kids react to the new center areas after we have changed them in the classroom for the month. I love to help the students interact with each other and watch the creative ways they think of to play. My three children all attended Maplewood preschool. When I’m not at the Preschool I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, and dancing.
